Avoid Reality At All Costs
Chicago.
Chicago.
I’m finally clean from the cuts and razors…
But that doesn’t mean I stopped punching my body or scratching my stomach until it’s red and bruises…

“Is it wrong to use the Dark Web to buy Vyvance for legitimate purposes?”
—Akira, looking at Tanaka’s Shady Commodities
This was a painting project for class. But it doubled as a gift for my brother in law. I’m really happy with how this came out!
Spoilers for Persona 5 Royal: Third Semester
I really really love the Royal designs for third semester…I’ve always had a soft spot for the school winter wear on Persona characters, but I can’t stop thinking about one in particular…
This Bitch.
“But Aki you’re always thinking about Ry-” shhhhhh…SHHHHH shush your sweet baby mouth my child
I know. I know….BUT
I just wish to point out the design of the red sweatshirt/hoodie
Sure, this may just be some kind of “typical high school punk” outfit.
But…the use of “Nobody” so casually slapped on there…hm…especially over the eye.
Because of Ryuji’s role as Skull, as well as Captain Kidd’s eyepatch, this shouldn’t really come off to anyone as odd. However, it’s a bit concerning, considering it’s not an eyepatch, but rather a black bar
“Nobody” intrigues me, honestly. That’s a label that’s been slapped onto him in the real world. Say that the skull underneath the black label represents him in the palace/Skull/his persona.
Black bars are usually represented on the news as a way to hide the identity of the person underneath. Obviously that doesn’t work all that well, (see Kanji from persona 4 as reference), and honestly? That makes sense. Ryuji isn’t exactly good at hiding the identity behind him, shouting almost constantly about being a Phantom Thief.
Underneath the “Nobody” identity concealer, underneath it lies a skull. Probably relevant to, I don’t know, Skull? Didn’t see that one comin’ ey? Though, the left eye is interesting, as it isn’t representative of a real skull’s eye socket. There’s a star.
Star’s in the eye aren’t common, though it exists, at least in one scenario in particular. There may be more, but there was one action where a mans eye had a star-like design in placement of where it would normally be, well, normal.
The cause? High voltage of electricity. Electricity? Zio? You still with me? Yeah? Yeah.
This is his school uniform. The role of a nobody shadowing who he truly is deep down. Shadowing the “skull of rebellion” he holds.
Then, there’s his other Third Semester Outfit
Besides the fact that this is UGLY AS HELL, and this blonde himbo had the AUDACITY to insult Yusuke’s scarf the day before is beyond me, cause LOOK AT THAT THING.
My focus lies on the shirt underneath, which to the sane eye of a person just looks like a red shirt with blotches on it, right? Well, my insane eyes see something more…
Another shirt. “No Mo’ Rules” (No More Rules).
Ryuji doesn’t follow the rules, there ARE no rules. Hell, this bitch doesn’t even follow the dresscode. He’s as much of an outcast as the other thieves are.
Now, take another look at his hideous outfit
Does that not look like the “no mo rules” shirt? Except it’s covered in blotches.
He wears this the day Maruki alters reality to be what everyone wishes. The day Ryuji stopped being an outcast. The day Ryuji didn’t have a reason to go against the rules. Those reasons were “covered up” by the new reality that was made.
The No Mo Rules logo is coloured by two colours. Green and Orange.
Orange, in some cases represents vitality.
Green, sometimes representing New Beginnings.
Now, I’m not saying that the reality made DEFINITELY gave Ryuji his missing pieces of vitality and allowed him to have a new beginning, but I sure am thinking it loudly…
The scarf is also interesting, seeing as before then Ryuji had absolutely NO interest in camo colours. Though, camouflage is, in its name, a form of hiding. AND WHAT ARE THEY DOING IN MARUKI’S REALITY? HIDING!! HIDING FROM THEIR PAST!!
Hi this made no sense, AND YEAH I KNOW IT ISN’T ANYWHERE NEAR CANON, BUT SHHHH IT’S A NEAT CONCEPT!! But I hope you enjoyed my full on ramble…
